About the Author
Born in May 23, 1958 in Passaic, New Jersey and living most of his life in Oaklyn, Mitch Albom spent most of his early life as a pianist, training under many teachers and performing in several bands. Despite this, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in the University of Waltham, Massachusetts. However, he would still be a performer, mainly in Europe and America, while also producing recordings of songs. At an age of early twenty, he then took an interest in journalism, writing for the Queen’s Tribune before he got a Master’s Degree in Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and an MBA from the Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. He would become well known for his sports writings before obtaining even more recognition as a writer for the inspirational stories and themes included into his works. His breakout hit, Tuesdays with Morrie mostly came about from Schwartz, his former college professor in Sociology. Not meeting for a long time, he decided to reconnect with him, learning that he was suffering from ALS, and would meet on Tuesdays to discuss life and death. Albom then vowed to write about these visits to help pay off his medical bill, gradually becoming a bestseller, growing for more popular than Albom could have expected.
